“Digital Learning Meets AI”: The Key Trend of Learntec 2026 — Through the Eyes of a Janus Worldwide Expert
Karlsruhe became the epicenter of the digital education world with leading players in the e-learning industry gathering at LEARNTEC — Europe’s premier trade fair for digital education.
Our colleague Michael Reimer, Head of Sales EMEA, didn’t just attend the event – he immersed himself in its atmosphere to personally assess the key trends and connect with partners.
Here is his exclusive review:
Once again in 2026, the world of digital education converged at LEARNTEC in Karlsruhe, Germany . The event’s motto, “Digital Learning meets AI – at EUROPE’S NO. 1”, precisely hits the nail on the head: today, education and learning are inextricably linked to technology, and AI is a driving force. Janus Worldwide’s multilingual services, as well as our own internal processes, are likewise powered by AI-assisted technology. Consequently, without exception, EVERY meeting and conversation I had with LEARNTEC exhibitors centered on two key themes: first, how to seamlessly integrate client systems with Janus’s own platforms; and second, how to effectively incorporate the human element – specifically, quality assurance via human proofreading of machine-generated output – into the technical workflow. 90% of the people I spoke with agreed that their own machine-generated content cannot be published without human oversight. The risk of errors or ambiguities, potentially occurring at critical junctures, is simply too high. This is precisely where Janus Worldwide offers indispensable support. Leveraging our network of over 2,500 experienced linguists, we address this specific need and are fully equipped to ensure seamless technical integration. Needless to say, we utilize a diverse array of machine translation engines, enabling us alternatively also to manage the ENTIRE translation lifecycle for our clients while upholding the very highest standards of quality.
“It was the absolute right decision to attend LEARNTEC again this year. I received an exceptionally high number of meeting requests, and once again had many insightful conversations, some of which have already led to concrete project announcements. The central theme running through my discussions with various exhibitors was how to ensure the quality of machine-generated output. While some companies generate this output in-house, others outsource their entire multilingual operations to an external agency… and we can offer high-quality solutions for both approaches! It was another fantastic LEARNTEC, and I would like to thank everyone I spoke with for our excellent, constructive, and at times, very humorous conversations!”
