The Language Consortium: A New Translation Industry Association
Companies in the translation industry have been consolidating their efforts and pooling their resources to achieve greater success and offer their clients comprehensive services at competitive prices. This has led to the creation of the Language Consortium (TLC) – an association of European translation agencies whose goal is to consolidate their marketing and business development efforts. The members of the Consortium are all companies with considerable experience, impeccable business credentials and a shared vision of complimenting rather than competing with one another within the association.
The Language Consortium’s goals are to work together on major international calls for tender in the translation industry, and to share strategic information on markets and the latest developments.
“Eventually, we would like to create a center of expertise where members will be able to share their knowledge and skills in IT systems, innovation, marketing, and business management. Consortium members will be able to use each other’s innovations, jointly invest in new products and technologies, organize marketing events, develop special forms of collaboration, and work together to strengthen their respective positions in key markets and win new clients,” commented Konstantin Josseliani, President and CEO of Janus Worldwide.
The Consortium envisions a global network using new technologies and solutions to provide language services.
The Language Consortium is currently drafting its own charter, setting out the principles according to which participants will cooperate at the global level, as well as a development strategy for the coming years. The documents will feature information about the provision of language services (simultaneous and consecutive interpreting at conferences, translation, audiovisual services and digital technologies, as well as multilingual communication services), confidentiality policies, and other aspects of joint activity.
Janus Worldwide is not simply a member of the Language Consortium. Together with TVcN and Presence, the company has taken on a coordinating role to ensure that the organization fulfills its plans and achieves its goals.
