Janus Worldwide in the jury for the international LocJAM video game translation competition
From February 22 to March 1, the second LocJAM video game localization competition took place, where Janus acted as a member of the jury. LocJAM is a video game translation competition that allows anyone, from amateurs to experienced translators, to participate in video game adaptation. It is non-commercial in nature, and aimed at raising awareness about the process structure of video game localization.
The competition took place in two stages: from February 22 to March 1, anyone who so wished translated a game, after which the jury checked the translations of each participant and selected the winners.
Compared to the first competition, the scope expanded significantly: now, 20 members jury (compared to 16 in the first competition) evaluated translations into Brazilian Portuguese and Russian, as well as into French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish (European and South American versions).
This year, the games organizers selected the open access game Twine for translation. An ad hoc platform was prepared to work on its localization, thanks to which there is the possibility to translate Twine and other games, making them accessible to entirely new audiences.
