The Sky is the Limit with Video Production from Janus Worldwide
Video is a part of modern life. Scripted clips with graphics and time tracking grab viewers’ attention in the first few seconds. In the few minutes that a user spends watching a video, explicit information about a service or product can be conveyed. The video-making process is called production. This includes filming ads, events, corporate films, informational or educational videos, presentations, and instructional materials for clients and employees. This sort of content is intended to promote a product, service or brand or for internal company use.
In 2018, Janus Worldwide founded a video production studio that successfully creates video content spanning different levels of complexity and numerous formats for a wide range of clients. The studio is staffed by a team of professionals: experienced screenwriters, directors, artists, camera operators, editors, and production assistants. They also bring in verified specialists from contractors.
Today we will talk with the Head of Janus Worldwide’s video production studio, Lyudmila Milovidova, a video production expert, trained linguist and specialist in interpretation for all event formats with over 15 years of experience in the field.
Putting it Simply: Why Video is Better Than Text
Lyudmila, what has led to video content becoming so unbelievably popular recently?
Video production is popular nowadays because it is directly connected to advertising. Video is popular, mainly because most people are visual thinkers, meaning they learn and perceive information mainly through sight. The meaning of an image can be grasped in a fraction of a second – in a tenth of a second the human brain can absorb a volume of information comparable to what could be presented in a 200-250 word text. The scientific explanation for this phenomenon is that more than 50% of the human brain is engaged in visual perception processes. An average person remembers about 80% of the information from a video, 20% from a text and 10% from listening. While text or photos each capture only one of these presentation methods, video combines them all. Apart from the scientific explanation I just gave, the colossal success of corporate video content can be attributed to the wide rage of tasks that the marketing experts accomplish through this communication channel, including attracting audience, establishing and building brand loyalty, and increasing organic website traffic, mobile traffic and, consequently, sales.
Since 2016, we’ve seen a large portion of advertising budgets being redirected from offline events to internet advertising and production of corporate video content also intended for online promotion.
Practical Experience: Consumer Trust
Lyudmila, there an idea that incorporating consumer-facing video content into communication strategies helps build more trusting relationships with consumers. In your experience, do many companies really employ this strategy?
Of course. Today, more than 80% of B2B and B2C companies use video as a key component of their communications. One example is the advertising campaign for our client ABB, a leading technological company with a portfolio of comprehensive solutions for digital industries. As part of this campaign to promote electronic components for professional and household use, the client commissioned us to produce a series of videos. The task was to communicate the information about new products in a clear way without overwhelming consumers with technical details, but still spark their interest with convenience and high quality of the offered solutions.
In total, this project required us to shoot about 30 interesting video clips. You can find most of them on our YouTube channel.
From Idea to Reality: the Origins of the Video Production Department
How did you conceive the idea to create a production studio as part of a major language services company?
The Janus Worldwide production studio is a relatively new department founded in 2018. The idea came up when we were planning to expand our service offering. One day, in addition to providing on-site simultaneous interpretation, we also needed to film the conference, which was focused on a new product. We put together a team and filmed the event. So, how did it turn out? The result was positive, and the client was satisfied. Afterwards, we uploaded the videos to our YouTube channel. This was our first experience in this new area. And we thought, why not make it one of our team’s regular services?
Backstage: Who’s Behind the Camera?
Tell me about your team at the studio.
The Janus Worldwide studio employs highly-qualified video production specialists.
For shooting, we recruit both experienced and young camera operators, focusing mainly on their creative vision and professionalism. Screenwriters, artists, editors and production assistants work every day to perfect the shooting process and finalize footage. The process of turning an idea into a video project requires many specialists, each with their own task. But the team has a common goal, creating a product that satisfies or even exceeds the client’s expectations. Our clips fairly often feature famous people, such as Denis Svetlichny. Apart from being a stage actor, he’s also known for his TV appearances. Alexandra Fedorova, who represents the architecture and design industry, has also appeared on our videos. Depending on the story and project goals, we hire specialists and presenters who reflect the nature of the content and the director’s vision. Our goal is to create a seamless process, both creative and practical, and we can’t have anything getting in the way of achieving a quality result.
A to Z Filming: It’s All About Creativity
How is the process of creating video content usually organized?
Shooting is a really creative task, and it’s all about what the client wants to see in the end. First and foremost, we transform imaginative ideas into content to create compelling videos for business. We write the plot, choose the cast and presenters, book the shooting stage and organize on-site work. Location shooting is also available, and we take care of all the logistics.
After shooting, our specialists move on to editing or post-production. We structure and trim video footage, correct colors, add audio and visual effects, text and background music. Finally, our client receives a finished product ready to be released online.
Janus Worldwide Video Productions: The Starting Point for Infinite Possibilities
What are the Janus Worldwide production studio’s current goals?
The world is changing and improving, and our company is also developing and growing. We are continuing to develop our production initiatives with the intention of becoming a top creator of engaging, high-quality video materials. And, as our head director days, “Just remember one simple rule: there’s always room for improvement.” We understand that clearly. So what comes next is key.
Lyudmila, thank you for an interesting discussion! Good luck to you and your team!
