About Trends in Copywriting
As I begin this article on trends in copywriting, I would like to point out that, in my opinion, there is no such thing as “trendy” or “untrendy” copy. Great copy is, above all, a piece of writing that precisely meets its goals and objectives. Nevertheless, I suggest that readers familiarize themselves with a some of the things that are currently trending.
One of the most obvious now on everyone’s lips is the use of artificial intelligence in copywriting. Artificial intelligence can certainly be useful to a copywriter, but in my opinion, it is better to limit its use to solving “specific” issues as an additional source of inspiration, but no more than that. Trust but verify: when generating copy, artificial intelligence sometimes gives a completely different meaning than what a human author would want to put into the text.
The second trend is the increasing importance of the visual component in the “presentation” of copy. If there is an opportunity to “dilute” text with relevant graphics, it is best to take advantage of it. This means that if some of the data can be presented in visuals such as infographics and tables, it will make the text more readable and attractive.
The third trend is the focus on maximum personalization. When working on your copy, think about who your readers are, how they think, what they are interested in, etc. This will help you address them as effectively as possible.
The fourth trend is “brevity is the soul of wit.” It’s worth recognizing that people generally don’t like to read long or complex texts, and many now read on mobile devices, which contributes to the declining popularity of long texts. It is better to prepare shorter material, but one that is filled with deep meaning.
And finally, the fifth trend that I would like to mention is the introduction of interactive elements in texts, for example, surveys, videos, etc. These elements increase reader engagement without fail.
