Problems and Solutions: An Inside Peek at Janus’ Approach to Translation Projects
As a social media company expands globally, localization is absolutely vital. It’s no secret that certain words and phrases have completely different meanings across different cultures. Companies which fail to take the time to research these cultural differences and adapt their product accordingly can easily end up offending people or spreading misinformation – blunders that can cause huge reputational damage.
To ensure that their content is effective and respectful of local cultures, and resonates with people all over the world, social media companies must take a responsible approach to localization. It’s important to engage a company that is credible and proven, with the ability to accurately translate the company’s message, and help sidestep any potential cultural faux pas. A reputable localization company will have the experience and knowledge necessary to help a business successfully reach new markets.
Here at Janus, we recently took on a fascinating project for an international social networking platform, and we’d like to share some of the challenges we came across and the solutions we devised.
In a prior localization job, we were entrusted with:
• Launching a seamless transition toward the localization phase;
• Optimizing the localization process and automating it from start to finish;
• Gradually expanding the translation process to cover multiple languages;
• Creating a technological solution to enable continuous file interchange between the customer’s translation management system (PTS) and the Janus Worldwide translation management system (TMS).
Here’s how we accomplished each goal:
First, we established a stable pool of suppliers who would work according to a defined timetable. This ensured consistent quality, the continuity of the localization process, and the completion of all phases on schedule within a short project cycle.
We then hired a project manager to oversee project implementation, administration, and optimization, as well as 360-degree risk management.
The next step was to use a secure API to enable automated data interchange between the client’s translation system and our proprietary TMS at Janus. This enabled lightning-fast data interchange, allowing our vendors to work twice as efficiently.
We also automated time-consuming processes using an extra Janus API to take care of:
• Cost estimates;
• Project administration and approval;
• Budget acceptance;
• And more.
Our solutions worked because:
- We selected only the most qualified vendors with a proven track record, who were also team players with a creative flair.
- Our cutting-edge APIs saved time and money while eliminating human error. They also made it easier for our project manager to supervise the whole translation process efficiently.
- We established 24-hour communication lines.
Janus remains committed to offering top-tier translation and localization services that adhere to worldwide standards and are tailored to your individual project requirements.
