How would you spend the 8 hours of free time you can get back by using GTP?
Every day we spend time on repetitive activities, and the phrase “time is money” often comes to mind. So we try to automate everything as far as possible, but we are not always clear why we are using technology or what we actually mean by that other well-worn phrase “increasing efficiency.”
In the translation industry, this phrase can be applied to the interaction between the client and the language service provider. Clients who make regular orders put a lot of effort into sending the work materials. Let’s look at this process in detail.
By placing an order through the GTP platform, users cut the average time taken to complete all the administrative steps from five minutes to three – but who cares about two minutes? You might carry on using email, because it’s more familiar – saving two minutes isn’t worth it! But let’s calculate the time savings over the course of a month, for example. Let’s imagine the following situation:
- After sending an order to the supplier, the client, let’s say, responds to a question for clarification from the supplier. The client now saves another two minutes, since it’s possible to communicate via the platform without any unnecessary formalities, just like using any other instant messenger (there is no need to draft an email in accordance with the standards for business correspondence every time, so it takes just a few seconds to answer).
- At the next stage, another minute is saved when confirming an estimate, rather than typing text on the keyboard, you simply click the appropriate button: Place Order or Request Estimate:
And another 2 minutes are freed up when accepting the finished translation. Again, no need to write an e-mail – just a couple of clicks are required.
Now let’s imagine that a client user places 3 orders per day. 2 minutes saved each time turn into 6 minutes. Then we add all the time saved during the next steps and multiply by 3 orders. With basic calculations we get:
(2+2+1+2)*3 = 21 minutes per day.
Over a week, we get 1 hour and 45 minutes, and in a month that’s 7 hours and 42 minutes (assuming 22 business days per month).*
Therefore, a user who places orders using GTP could save a whole working day per month on simple projects! It’s up to you to decide what to spend it on – more in-depth work on the translation, or tea with your colleagues. We are just giving you the option.
*Of course, the number of steps in negotiating order conditions or clarifications may vary from this basic example, as well as the number of orders per day. However, we have provided an average calculation for clarity.
