Janus has begun active cooperation with Aurora Networks and ABB, something that can be seen as a notable success in the electro-technical sector of our work.
We won the relevant tender, which included the long and serious process of choosing a service provider, as well as quite a large number of tests that had to be completed by us and by the other candidates. Later, a project team, consisting of a project manager, editor-in-chief, editors and staff and freelance translators, was set up. With our new partner on board, the number of orders has shot up dramatically, because the company had not had its material translated for quite a long period of time. Once we had coped with this flow of work, it was then essential for us, on the one hand, to use previously translated material as a guide, and on the other hand modify and adjust it in accordance with the customer’s terminological and stylistic requirements.
To perform this task we created a database into which texts containing approved terminology were fed, and using this database we were able to check and approve almost every word. Our customers found Janus to be a reliable partner with whom it was easy to do business, and thanks to this we received not only specific corrections and assistance with terminology, but also countless new translation projects.
At the moment, we are carrying out translations and providing interpretation and localization services for ABB and other clients in the electro technical sector, whilst combining this with the proofing, preparation and printing of catalogs.
Our DTP designers create schematic layouts for the clients without any source materials. So Janus is not only translating material, but also partially creating it for the client company in Russia.
The results achieved in this field were made possible thanks to the setting up of an in-house technical translation department, and staff with the required qualifications being brought in.
We look forward to further cooperation and new projects in this area! |

Janus has added yet another global project to its list. The project came from Mosenergo, and was one of the largest in the company’s history. It included the translation of complex technical documentation for thermoelectric plant equipment, analysis of all incoming documents and the search for new solutions to quickly recognize both text documents and schematic drawings, and subsequent DTP on them. Within 11 months we translated about 15 million words and carried out DTP for about 50,000 pages and 8,000 schematic drawings.
OAO “Mosenergo” is Russia's largest generating company, territorially, in the heat energy sector.
Mosenergo was due to modernize the Cherepovets hydroelectric power station in 2012, for which it announced a public tender for the provision of translation services, and Janus won the tender. We had to translate the entirety of the equipment documentation from English to Russian.
We managed to find a high-quality solution for document recognition. Janus’s experts tested the latest software for raster and text documents, and the optimum solutions were found for the heat energy sector specifically.
The project was completed by the agreed deadline, and the quality of the documents submitted was such that they were all accepted when first submitted. |
