Janus specialists localized a computer game from Chinese into Russian
Friday, 13 December 2013 10:51

This month, multimedia specialists have completed the localization of a computer game from Chinese to Russian.

The localized game is of the MMORPG genre (massively multiplayer online role-playing game). This is an online computer role-playing game in which a large number of users interact with each other in a virtual world. It is a martial arts game.

As part of this project almost 400,000 characters were translated in a very short time. Work on the project took a month, and finished materials were delivered to the customer every week. Proofreading alone took over 100 hours.

For high quality work, a team of 10 people was selected, among which the text for translation and editing was distributed. Professionals specializing in the localization of computer games were actively involved in work on the project. Clear interaction was established between all members of the project team. Information about completion of individual sections of the work was promptly transferred to all project participants to observe uniformity of the translation.

As part of the project, a glossary of 10,000 lines was also updated and translated.

A feature of this project was the engineering processing of the source text, which significantly simplified the work of translators and editors.

The specifics of this game should also be highlighted. Since the action takes place in Ancient China, the game includes a large number of quotations from Confucius and poetry in ancient Chinese. The text was not simply translated, but also adapted for Russian users.

Implementation of this project is a step towards the further development and improvement of the large-scale localization direction.
